Darwin Experience: Exciting Kayaking on the Santa Cruz River

Follow the same route that Charles Darwin explored. The Darwin Experience is a full-day kayak tour through the Santa Cruz River, following the route that the English naturalist took in 1834 during his expedition on the HMS Beagle.

You will navigate in double kayaks through the crystal-clear waters of the river, crossing the Patagonian steppe with its unique landscapes. Includes full equipment and a picnic lunch.

Which one is right for you?

If you want a historical adventure and are in good physical condition → I chose Darwin Experience. A 15 km kayak trip down the Santa Cruz River, following the 1834 HMS Beagle expedition. Requires the ability to paddle continuously for 80 minutes. A unique experience combining natural history, sport, and the Patagonian steppe landscape. More challenging than any other water activity. Ages 16 and up.
If you prefer land trekking over a kayak → I chose Cañadón Experience. 7 km hike through the creek canyon with fossil deposits. No boating. Sheltered from the wind by the canyon walls. Less technical than Darwin but just as educational. Ages 12 and up.
If you want to kayak in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier → I chose Kayak Experience. You'll paddle on the Brazo Rico arm of the most iconic glacier. Much shorter than Darwin (4 hours vs. 6). It combines kayaking with trekking through the Andean forest. Suitable for ages 6 and up. Less historically epic, but more accessible.
If you are traveling with small children or prefer not to row → I chose Blue Safari. Motorized navigation in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier without physical exertion. Catamaran for all ages. Includes optional trekking through the coastal forest. A comfortable alternative if Darwin seems too demanding.
